A CATEGORY MOTORCYCLE PRACTICAL RIDING COURSE
About the A licence
To take part in the A motorcycle test you must be a minimum of 24 years of age or have completed your A2 licence 2 years prior. You must have a current CBT and your motorcycle theory test certificate unless you are upgrading your A2 licence to which point these are not necessarily. You are required to take your test on a motorcycle of 600cc or above which we will provide.
What is required on the day?
You are required to bring your UK provisional/driving licence. Your current valid CBT certificate and motorcycle theory certificate will be required.
You must wear:
- a motorcycle helmet that meets British safety standards (this doesn’t apply if you’re Sikh and wearing a turban)
- motorcycle boots or other sturdy footwear that provides support and ankle protection
- textile or leather motorcycle trousers or heavy denim trousers
- a textile or leather motorcycle jacket or a heavy denim jacket with several layers underneath
- motorcycle gloves
Your test will be cancelled and you’ll lose your fee if you don’t meet these standards.
What does the A licence entitle me to
Once completed you will be issued with a A motorcycle entitlement to ride any bike. This does not necessarily mean you have to buy a high capacity bike but it will entitle you to ride any bike in the future.
You can ride without L-plates, carry passengers and use motorways.
